Thanks Luke
That looks cool but with parts hard to come by I'd be worried I broke something I have dabbled in green laning but it's getting harder to do it round here due to irresponsible owners carving up tracks when they're muddy. Locals are likely to call police if they see you now Did a bit in our FLs and D2s but the RRSs only ever went in farm fields with the caravan as the cost of them made me too scared to go green laning I have been happy to drive everything from Defender to FFRR2 on LR experience days though apart from Evoque which has never interested me This was my highlight just after I bought the D2 metropolis at LRO show 04 Click image to enlarge http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=16782 I had a phase considering a cheap Defender for greenlaning but never did it and now I'm more interested in a series so maybe I'm getting old Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW Still hoping for a S2 one day! |

That doesn't look too expensive to me for an early vehicle. I'd want to know what it looked like before being straightened out and painted and how much of the original vehicle remains; the front panel and door tops are later items, but no big deal. Ideally I would also look for an enthusiast owned/restored example. Some good ones do come up from time to time on the series2club site. Don't be too put off by the lack of synchro between 1st and 2nd. You only need 1st when pulling away and mine will crawl along at idle in 2nd at walking pace. 2nd is a low gear and I've had to learn to slow right down to almost a standstill before dropping into 2nd. 3rd or 4th are fine for roundabouts. You're in 4th by 25mph and I typically don't exceed 45mph on 6.00 tyres without overdrive. This is more of a limitation than a slight pause when pulling away. |

Thanks Miles
I would prefer an enthusiast restoration to a dealer sale. I will look at the series2club now. I came here because I knew it was best place to find the people in the know I've been on Martins sites for so long now I'm not sure what else is out there. Sadly his DS site hasn't been very busy and I've now had to join another for info. I'm now a mod on there though Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW Still hoping for a S2 one day! |
