I put a pair of tweeters in my Td5, they're in their own golfball type cases and they sit on their sticky bases at each end of the crash pad. As I've still got speakers on the lower dash panel by your knees I joined the wires on the tweeters to the nearest speaker so I just piggybacked off the fronts.

If you find a photo of a Puma dash you'll see the mounting they have on the dash top at each end.
You could copy that and would look pretty factory too. You can indeed piggyback of the front speakers as mentioned above. |

Thanks peoples. So in relation to the speakers, does it matter where the tweeters go? With my speakers behing by the top of the B pillar, will the tweeters need to go near there? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Best improvement you can make is to not use the speakers in the headling above the b pillars and mount speakers in the dash as the photo shows. The headlining speakers are too close to your ears !!

I did think about moving the speakers but don't want to cut holes in the dash board. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Tweeters need some form of crossover so don't just wire them from the head unit or other speakers. I also fitted mine to the top of the dash as above. Ray

They should have X overs wired in-line.

As Martin said, built in on Puma tweets, and most likely on some aftermarket models too.
On my Kicker one's it is in-line instead. So long as there is an X over present that's all that matter. |
