My RAI was fitted by the dealers and the gap between the plastic and the bodywork is catching all sorts flora, some of which cannot be removed unless the RAI is removed.
I removed it last week, hoping that it had not been installed properly, but it all checked out 100%. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case? Does anyone else look like this? It's fitted ok mate ..I used a bit of spare neoprene foam to make a small bung to stop the rubbish collecting

Thanks Terry for the idea of the foam, will add it to the 'to do' list...

I think Mantec probably had to design in an element of 'best fit' to compensate for Land Rover's 'tolerances' (or lack of!).

Mine is the same.
THE most important part of the fit is a perfect watertight seal around the inlet 'hole' in the body. The rest is just aesthetic! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

To be honest, the mantec system isn't watertight so a perfect seal around the inlet hole won't stop the water getting sucked in further down the inlet pipework.
The only way to make it watertight is new pipework all the way to the airbox..... |

'Nugget Stuff' on 'AULRO' make a kit for just that :>) But it needs to start with a proper seal around the RAI/body join of course! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Did mine just after Christmas & yes, that do stand proud of the wing
Another Mantec,, like all previous Puma Defenders, bar one, when that was fitted with a Safari Do the job correct and Mantec work for me better, last one also done with the Nugget Stuff kit California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

The whole job can be done in a hour and half

I'm planning to get a Mantec snorkel and nugget stuff kit.
On the nugget website they say 'check the air box' too or they cant guarantee watertight. What's the general consensus on the standard airbox? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

The airbox should be watertight, if clamped properly.
There is however a single drain hole in the bottom as you are probably aware. Other than that it's airbox to ducting that is a non waterproof joint. Then ducting to wing inner, then wing to RAI. You do have to bear in mind however that Mantec's are a RAI and Safari's are Snorkels and as such RAI's are simply that not designed to be watertight. However, I'm sure it can be done. In my opinion you can seal both the nugget stuff kit and OE just the same but the benefit of the nugget stuff kit would be the reduced restriction of the OE ducting |
