Nope. Nothing in a car generally running 5V that you can get to. What for? USB adapter in ciggy socket?

Close, dash cam The beautiful wife smashed the cigarette lighter adapter in the car door (she has been severely reprimanded). I wanted to do away with it anyway as I don't like it constantly plugged in as it's ugly.
I'll find an old phone charger that works and take the gubbins out of that then. Cheers |

I have mine plugged in and tucked out of sight under the radio. I also have a custom panel in the dash centre with a perm live 12V socket, and a panel mount USB outlet. Much nicer!

Yep, I have a raptor dash with 12v cigarette lighter and a USB dock.
I just don't like 'stuff' everywhere, trailing cables and sticky-outy plugs etc.. It's going to be permanent so would rather it was out of sight. Maybe i'll just fit an internal USB socket in hidden away. Good call Ta |

One of these wired into the back of the 12v lighter socket, fused the routed up the side of the windscreen, under the headlining and out just above the mirror for my dashcam.

There's 5V between the pins of the coolant temperature sensor. |

There's always one smart arse!
Somehow I doubt it would be any good as a power supply though! |

I fitted a next base permanent supply from Halfords for £10 as it was in the bargain bin with a damaged packet
Easy to fit as you just plug it into a fuse, only downside is having to take the dashboard apart to hide the wires Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

All sorted, found an old USB adapter for the cigarette socket so dismantled that, bit of jiggery pokery and a shed load of heat shrink and it's done. I guess it will be quite handy having another USB about the place regardless
Thanks all |

Apparently on youtube there is a section of vids devoted to this! They suggest that the OBD port can supply 5V and there are cables available to make this connection.
I have not tried it myself but I thought it could be a solution. Cheers Don. |

Not quite, there's 12V available in the OBDII plug, those adapters are just a 12-5V converter. |
