Can anybody confirm that these seals will fit a 2003 TD5??
My old ones are about to fall off and need replacing.....if the new style fit, now would be the time to do it. thanks for any info! Patrick |

Some Td5s have the so called "Puma" pressed frame doors, the change over was part way through 2005MY.
But *if* you are not the first owner of your 2003 you cannot know that the doors have not been changed in the past You need to do a visual inspection of the door frame to see if it a smooth one-piece part or a fabricated square-section construction. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Aha!
That explains it. I thought it was td5 vs puma thing. My doors are original and have the welded square bottoms on the front, so I suppose I am out of luck. Were the rear doors also upgraded in 2005? Will the new seals fit the older rear doors? Patrick |

I have the seals for the rear doors (behind driver and passenger) and they look to fit OK.
For the fronts, if I go later Puma door seals I might be tempted to break out the grinder and curve the bottom corners to match the door seals and re-weld a plate in. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Oopsie. Price has changed to the general going rate now. But kudos to Beadles Land Rover who took the mistake on their website in good spirit and who did honour my order without questons, so I got 16 of these blocks at 0.71£ a piece net of VAT and with free shipping to Switzerland. Just installed 5 of them on the SVX to replace the ones that had gone amiss with time. Need to manage my remaining stock sparingly. Eric You never actually own a Defender. 2nd row doors now have the new style door seals. Not long to fit as I had no seals to begin with.
Rough order: Undo the nut holding the door limiter in place. Place a towel between the door frame and the A piller Ran some masking tape the length of the door frame and up the sides Got the correct handed door seal out the bag Did a test fit so I could see the location of the holes needed for the studs. Put blobs of paint on the ends of the studs and offered up the door seal Using the paint marks on the masking tape, then proceeded to drill the holes. Started off small with a pilot drill and then finished with 5mm Removed the masking tape Put some paint in and around the holes to cover the bare metal. Put the door seal in place and squirted some cavity wax into the fold on the door frame for the door skin. Doors closed fine. As a test I put some blobs of paint on the floor where the seal meets and then paint transferred to the door seal. Wiped off with some white spirit. Jobs a goodun! The test will be a run on the motorway to if the road noise has been reduced. Hi all.
Just fitted these new style door bottom seals to our '06 Td5, easy job and well worth doing. Just requires a little more effort to close the doors. Just a brilliant idea. Thanks to the advice on here. Edward |

Yesterday I installed the new style door seals on my 2000MY 110. Easy to do, just wanted to demonstrate that they can be installed on older style (square welded) doors.

Do you find the door seals any better over the original ones?
I might replace mine with the later seals instead of the single strip across the bottom of the door, 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Are these seals still going well on the earlier Td5 doors?? Looking at adding this to list of upgrades??

Absolutely one of the best upgardes I've done. The trick is to use a dremel tool to make new plastic clip holes in the rubber. You then move the clips in the rubber to match the holes already on the door frame for the old style bottom seal. Otherwise you drill a few new holes... No big deal I suppose but easier in my opinion. They work great on the old style door frame. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

more time and money required then! Someone write that cutting new holes in the rubbers might make then tear. Is this likely?
