Ignition feed for dlr lights
Hello everyone,

I am new here. I have been around land rovers for years, previously restored a 1974 classic Range Rover from ground up, but my latest possession is a 59 plate defender 90 XS. I have mainly worked on tractors many years ago, and non electric engines!

I am doing some upgrades at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone could save me some time and probably mistakes by helping me.

I have wired up the dlrs from the right side light through a fuse for the signal (back emf) to turn off the dlrs when the side lights turn on.
I have wired the dlrs in the bumper, but all I need is to take a tap of 12V supply, strong enough to handle led lights, but only when the ignition, or engine is on.

My dlr kit is from britpart, with no controller, just simple wires, white feed to switch Dlrs off, red positive, black negative.

I have the positive lead wired up along the right side forward wing towards the loom near the bulkhead, it just needs to be connected. There is a loom just along the bulkhead, I assume I will find a live ignition feed there?

Can anyone tell me which colour wires to go for?

Many thanks indeed,

Cheers

Be careful - I said white with a green stripe. NOT green with a white stripe, they are different.

Green with white is right hand indicator.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi martin,

Should have checked here before I wired!! Dlrs come on with right indicator!!

I don't have a white wire with a green stripe. I am looking at the loom to the outside of the washer bottle.

Any ideas?

Ok, just finished the wiring. Found the white wire with a green stripe, and it works perfectly.

I spent a few extra hours doing it, just to ensure all joints were soldered properly, with heat shrink, and cable tied along other wires to protect from chaffing etc.

Very impressed with the result, it looks great.

Many thanks for your help, and very quick replies.

....on to the next project!
