Wheel/tyre fit - advice please
Expect this has been covered before but a regular forum member has offered me some 8.5J wolf wheels for my 255/85/16 BFGs. Would welcome comments on whether this is a sensible fit as most wolfs seem to be 6.5J. I also have 30mm spacers on the hubs.

GEN Wolfs are only 6.5 However would not be surprised if copys come in larger sizes or hes getting confused with Modulars.

Thx guys have seen pics and stamp does seem to be 8.5. The member is well known on this site so not doubting him. Just checking to see what is advised rim size for these tyres on a wolf wheel or any other recommended steel. assume then that the 6.5 would be ok for 255/85/16s. Are there different offsets I need to be aware of?

As Dave18 says, genuine LR Wolf wheels only come in 6.5J width flavour. There are plenty of other numbers stamped on the rim though so best check width with a tape measure. If its not 6.5J, its not a Wolf rim.
As for fitting 255/85R16's to Genuine LR Wolfs, that is fine, although 6.5J is the narrowest rim they can be fitted on (FYI, widest is 8J).
The offset on the Wolf is ~20mm. A Boost alloy wheel is about 33mm. Therefore the Wolf sits ~13mm further outboard than the Boost which is what you want to be able to gain more steering lock. Spacers would push them out the additional 30mm for even better lock, but would start to bring in negatives such as general muck constantly being thrown up the sides of the car, and possible steering shimmy.

255/85R16's on Wolf wheels is possibly the best wheel/tyre combo possible on Defenders I reckon. (without spacers for me) Wink
