Knocking Noise Inside Rear
About 2 weeks ago started to notice a knocking noise from what it sounds is coming from inside the rear of my 110, I have been in the back and checked everything and it all seems tight, it seems to happen when going over small bumps in the road or when turning sharply at slow speed,it does sound like it is from inside though I know how noise can travel so could be coming from underneath. I have even had the kids listening to try and notice where the noise is coming from, SWMBO says she cannot hear it, but I did expect that from her anyway Laughing
The next step would be for me to climb in the back and put my life into her hands whilst she drives around Rolling with laughter and have a look myself, though if anybody else has had a similar thing, or any advice to check that would be great.

Cheers

Keith

You could lok at the upper shock absorber bushes, you'd get the knocking reverberating through the body. A lower one has just gone on our August 2010 110 so sometimes they don't last long!

I had a similar thing a little while ago that turned out to be a rear mudflap bracket that had come adrift. I was convinced that the sound was coming inside and had my kids prodding and pushing their seats to try and track in down Rolling Eyes Darren

I did go through my mind it may be something to do with the back door, like something loose inside, will check mudflap brackets also,

Many Thanks

Exactly same symptoms with me . It was rear chassis step and rumbling all the time . A common fault , the bolt isn't loose but step rumbles and shakes . My dealer replaced and no more rumbles ( from the back anyway )

If you have an adjustable tow bar fitted check that. See if there is any play when you hold the towball and check for any slight movement against the slider plate. I put some duct tape between the slider plate and the plate with the towball. This killed my rear clunking noise. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Laughing Laughing

Well tonight have had another good look, I bunged up the towbar when I first got it, as I noticed it clanking away, checked bushes on the shock absorbers and door brackets all look ok, I have packed out again with rubber strips the protective cowl which covers the diesel filter in the rear drivers side wheel arch, as this was flapping around again, so will know tomorrow.
Though whilst I was under it tonight I banged under the floor pan and this strangely sounded very similar, could the floor be loose some where?

Anyway thanks for everybody's input, Thumbs Up

Cheers

Keith

Unsecured seat belts? They do tend to make a racket when they are not secured in the side holders when not in use.

Or, if the rear passengers are not using their seat belts and lean on that pillar or if they position themselves just right on the seats near the bulkheads, that will cause the seat belt T-clip thingie to bounce against the pillar causing a racket.
