Bit of a thread revival... I have two of these waiting to be installed for some time now and want to finally go ahead with that. Andy, was there an easy way to wire them into the interior lights circuit? Is taking the center dash panel with the radio out sufficient to do this, or is it more difficult, maybe a complete dash out job? (Hope not). What is the best and easiest way? For me, I just would like them to come on and go off with the interior lights, nothing else. Hi Eric,
I have them on with the illumination feed so on at night, however my door courtesy lights have there own circuit. I have just taken a feed from the interior light wire in the A pillar. This is a switched ground which just triggers the relay. Because of the dimming feature the first relay buzzed shortly, I tried another brand and it is all good. Shout if you need more detail. Andy, when you say "taking a feed from the interior light wire in the A pillar".
Do you mean from the backside of the little switch button low in the A pillar which comes out of its rest position when you open one of the front doors? Thanks for confirming this or if that is not it please point me in the right direction. Best, Eric You never actually own a Defender. Still a bit confused after reading the other thread and then look at Andy's schematics in above post. Andy's drawing in above post seems to show a relay. But PaulMc's comments which I quoted here above are saying that we do not need a relay for additional interior lights which come on and fade out together with the other existing interior lights. Is it possible for someone to show on a drawing how this then would look like? Thanks, Eric You never actually own a Defender.
