United Kingdom 2013 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 SW Rimini Red
Ashcroft Transmissions Gearbox Output Shaft Kit
Going to fit one of these whilst the 130 is in having a new clutch.

The reason for doing this is here.

Whilst in the dealers its also having:- New head gasket as its got an oil leak. New front diff pinion seal. Oil pump recall works. New bonnet, as the nut that holds the catch was welded on in the wrong place and the bonnet kept popping open.
Oh and they are fitting the bigger Bowler brakes for me Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Knowing Ashcrofts it will probably outlive the rest of the Puma..

i ordered one of these which arrived last week to, will fit it when i do the clutch which at 51k miles it seems prudent to do! Cheers

i think mines ready for one. Had a clutch under warranty at 17k so got a few miles left in the old girl. When it goes does it do any damage apart from loss of drive?

aren't the Ashcroft ones standard ones converted ?

bpman Nice engineering by Ashcroft, and it's a permanent fix

how long have they been tested for ?

NOT saying they no good , they look good , but anyone have anyone have results from fitting the kit ?

Correct, they're standard parts machined to allow oil migration from the main gearbox.

I am not aware of anyone who's run an Ashcroft set for a significant mileage yet, and look forward to hearing feedback when someone does. I have no doubt that they'll work very well, but similarly the standard parts properly lubricated also seem pretty long-lasting.

The only immediate damage is to the failed parts ... ... unless you happen to be on a level crossing, or the middle of a junction, or a motorway, etc, when it fails. In those cases, who knows? Thankfully it hasn't happened yet.

You're quite right munch, but given the issue is a non-greased joint and the Ashcroft kit feeds oil to the joint it should be good fix and Ashcroft quality Thumbs Up

Well I reckon as others do with Ashcrofts reputation and the fact that the joint will now be lubed up its a win win situation. Time will tell I suppose Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

I can think of no finer testbed than Longshanks for a long term test of the Ashcroft Solution, and look forward to finding out how it fares.

My factory splines let go suddenly when I was on a Motorway, luckily I was able to coast to the hard shoulder but it was scary.
