Replying on CarlS behalf.
Thank you Ryan for tanking time to read this thread and express your concerns.

We are getting a good service from Land Rover and Listers Hereford (was Hereford Land Rover) and are being kept up to date with the progress.

If for whatever reason things don't go as planned I will ask for your help. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Update,

The car has been at the dealership for just over 2 weeks, they've re-calibrated the steering wheel angle & YAW rate sensors. I haven't really covered many miles yet but the problem still seems to be there. I've got a bit of run tomorrow, I'll see hot it goes..... The spawn of AndrewS

So I'm still getting the issues after the above re-calibration.

One thing I have noticed is the brake dust build up on the front wheels, I covered 280 mile yesterday and the wheels were clean prior to leaving. I would say that there's an excessive build up of brake dust for that distance, agree/disagree?

won't help i guess but anyway

disable ESP and drive same distance, see if you have same dust buildup. If yes, pull ABS fuse and repeat. In the mean time you can check on the brake applying on one wheel only also. I think fuses out will be the only way and agree with the suggestions on sensor settings/calibrations and readouts being off.

I think you will see less dust with ESP off

Used to drive an A6 quattro which was eating brake pads to my feeling. (permanent dusty wheels etc)
Disabling ESP driving a moderate 20km/h on a roundabout in summer would instantly make the tires squeal. enabling the system was like pressing a mute button.
This set me off in searching deeper and learned me that the ESP systems are much more active than we think, the orange light doesn't mean esp start working it comes on when there is a drastic interference made by the ESP system. But this trigger level is set by the constructor.

In short, the audi was continuously applying brakes (minimal power so unnoticed) enforcing their "quattro superiority feeling" (as no lights flickering when applying throtlle a bit early etc).

We have the same problem with our MY15 90 CSW
Slow speed stopping, most obvious when wheels turned slightly
Been into the dealers once. They refaced the pads. Did not cure the problem.
Have recontacted the dealer, they say they have never heard of the fault before. I suggested they look at this thread!

Yes I see what you're saying, makes total sense. Thanks for your input.

I'm thinking that the ESP/DSC system needs to be backed off a bit. I think LR need to let the Defenders move around a little more before the system starts working. The spawn of AndrewS

I think Land Rover might see this issue cropping up more & more. I did some data logging with our LR mechanic last night in my 110 & also in their 110 which is having similar problems.

The LR mechanic is sending the info through to Land Rover Technical today. The spawn of AndrewS

2 Land Rover technical guys & our local dealership mechanic came over earlier to carry out some more testing on my truck.

Still no firm answer as to what's happening here. They were saying that the DSC & ABS are 2 different systems & work separately, however they couldn't work out which one is operating... The symptoms/reactions of the car aren't quite adding up as far as the Land Rover techs were concerned, all the data was recorded & is being taken back to be analysed. There was also mention of the data being sent to Bosh for them to have a look.

When I asked them about the brake screeching & dust issue that I'm getting, they said that it shouldn't be linked to the above....I'm sure it is though.

So we're no further forward really Confused

I am impressed with the service I'm getting from LR & local our dealership Listers Land Rover, there's been no arguing or huffs & puffs, I have a D4 courtesy car straight away when mine goes in. The LR tech guys were very good as well Very Happy The spawn of AndrewS

Mine is now squeeling again done 4k been in at 2k to be fixed so will be giving listers a call next week see what they say. Looks as if it's a common issue. Mine also have developed what sound like a mouse in the rear which is more annoying than the brake noise Rolling Eyes

Don't think I have washed mine yet in nearly 6 months of ownership. Why pay for super guard defenders are self cleaning Sad

Latest Update: Land Rover are still asking our dealer to carry out tests on the vehicle & report the info back. They've not given any information as to to what the cause may be or what the fix is.

I've worked out that I've owned the vehicle for 19 weeks & I've had a courtesy car for 11 of them Big Cry The spawn of AndrewS

That is pretty terrible, however at least (1) they seem to be taking the problem seriously, and (2) all the miles you put on the hire car aren't going on your Defender. Both of which I realise are small comfort.

Mine is booked in to the sister dealer in a week to try and cure mine for the second tim, yet it appears to have got a little better Rolling Eyes

Yours sounds much worse than I have hope it's sorted soon.

Still no joy, servicing dealer Listers have been great as has Shukers the selling dealer, for that matter so have Land Rover.

However Carl has not seen the car for weeks and there is no sign of the vehicle being fixed. The last thing Land Rover advised was to change the shims in the swivel joints. As expected this made no difference Rolling Eyes 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile
