No knocking or blue smoke and no loss of performance . Just using over 1litre of oil ever 600 miles

could it be a turbo issue or injector washers leaking oil where it should not .

I have no knowledge of cars . just love driving the defender

turbo issue would be seals gone ,
seal gone on exhaust side then blue smoke and oil out of exhaust
seals gone on inlet side then blue smoke , running on own oil ( very high revs and you cant stop them without stalling or shutting off air supply )

they is talk on here of injector seals ( personally never seen one go ) , causing excessive crank case pressure which could push oil down breather pipe

if its running fine , then might be worth getting a set of washers fitted first , its not a long or hard job and shouldn't cost a fortune

maybe get a 2nd opinion

Where did you take it? Is it a reputable garage? If not on the basis of a recommendation of good service in your area go take it for a second opinion. Irrespective if your engine "has had it" (so eloquently put!) they would explain why this is the case and where your oil is going. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Go with Munch90's suggestion, replace the injector seals.
I had exactly the same, including "your engine is shot mate".
Change the washers and problems sorted. Worth having them re-checked for tightness after 2 - 3 weeks.

worth finding somewhere that can do a proper job and have a injector seat cleaner to use , as some will just fit new washers on top of crap down injector hole

What year did the PCJ problem get sorted at source? I have a feeling that 2010 is possibly just old enough to suffer from it, which, if so, could indicate knackered pistons and bores and bearing damage throughout.

If this is suspected, check sump and filter for metal fragments and if necessary remove the head to inspect the bores. If the vehicle has a full LR service history LR may assist with the cost if it is this.

I had the same issues with my 2.4 Puma needing a top off every so often, turned out to be a cracked turbo that was leaking oil into my air system. Replaced the turbo and cleaned out the air ways, so far, so good. Still have to work out on how the clean the EGR though.

I might look at my injectors next as indicated as there is still a bit of oil being eaten up but not as bad as before.

check the injectors copper seals. If the seals are damaged, the engine sucks oil from there and you have backpressure if you remove the oil fill cap when running

Have you oil around the injectors on the cam cover? Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition
