Security - Windows.......heard something?
Evening all,

I read something disturbing the other day about the ease of access through the defender windows... the comment didn't elaborate on what it was or how to fix it, but as the owner of a 4 month old defender, my baby and pride and joy, i'm now massively concerned that there is some tennis ball trick etc that can be performed in order to gain access and steal my pride and joy - heres hoping the missus isn't going to read this!

Obviously we don't want to advertise this, so PM me if you know how to fix it, what ever 'it' is!

Cheers
M

Glass? Hammer, brick etc =broken window

OK rear windows you can use various grills. Front windows? Security films are available, am not talking about tinting film. Proper security films are available but are not exactly cheap.

You have to err on the side of sense and sensibility.........

Hard top.....can opener, cordless grinder = same scenario as broken glass.

Window Grills.....wire, bolt cutters = same situation....

Does the front screen also get the security film treatment, won't stop it from being popped out though?

Anything you do is just another layer nothing else. A determined thief with the correct tooling and back up equipment and it'll strill disappear relatively quickly too. Layers now matter how few may hold them up a while, and perhaps even deter them, it may also help you rest a little more restfully too. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

So effectively, there's nothing I can do... 😣

Well she's a pretty little thing so I guess I will just keep her well for as long as I've got her ☺️

Is there anything I can do to make her impossible to drive - I don't mean leaving her as she is, I mean in the sense that a new range is almost impossible to start without the key?

Tracker, removable steering wheel, x-eng lock etc, the usual stuff - don't get downhearted mate, there's lots of security available

You could try taking the windows out and the refitting them using sikkaflex?

Would seriously slow down being able to "pop" them.

I also sawed off the little unlock bit on the latch which would make it more difficult to open the door if they do pop the window.

But peddle lock, gear stick lock, tracker, boxed in, and ignition shroud will all worth looking at too Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197
