You dont need beadlockers, a defender with 285s at 15psi will go everywhere you will ever need to in the sand

Don't listen to the Dell Boy  He wants Bead Lockers really 
Each of those are great in there own way me I love the terrafirma with BL's but modulars going on for the Winter because of the road salt weird I know I'm not worried about marks from lanes / shoots but corrosion on the nuts will drive me crazy |

You don't need to necessarily stick with a 16 X 8 size wheel...With careful consideration of wheel/tyre size and offset you can achieve almost anything and change the look quite considerably. For example I run on 15 X 10 with a tyre flotation size of 32 X 11.5 which gave me almost the same rolling radius as original. My offset at 40mm is quite large but I like the 'Tonka Toy look.' It's all down to personal choice, but with a little calculation and imagination????
Matt Lee who was the original manufacturer of Mach 5s has only just gone back into production and I believe initially he will only be manufacturing beadlockers with the new flared spoke styling (IF you can get them?). Here: http://www.mjloffroad.com/pages.php?pid=14 The new design for 2009 bit didn't get off the ground with regards to full scale production. Another thread I started sometime ago about Mach 5s here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic2610.html?highlight=mach Beadlockers aren't really required unless you are going 'serious off-road' and can be notoriously difficult to balance (Sonic gave up in the end on a set of beadlockers due to balancing issues - see thread above). With Mach 5s which I hasten to add was my choice, availability is the key....I may be wrong but I doubt if you will be able to source a complete brand new set. I had to purchase three black and one stainless and get the stainless powder coated at the same place as the other three in the particular size and offset I researched as I really wanted to retain original rolling radius. At that time due to the harsh Winter I think I also could not get BF Goodrich KM2s in the size I wanted they were on a 6 week back order, quite often you may not be able to get what you decide upon so remain flexible and check availability before finally deciding to avoid disappointment. Mach 5s come in different sizes and offsets with ZUs the sizes and offsets are very limited in comparison. It depends on what look and style you wish to achieve and whether you want steel or alloy as Mach 5s are steel. Happy hunting and don't forget to post your end result.
Buy some decent nuts and corrosion will be a thing of history.....Not cheap! I did! And it is a thing of history!

About £320 per corner complete....same look can be achieved with modulars at about £180 per corner....

Sonics just a Wimp if you have the time and Patience you can balance to within 5g (Standard Car) but its something a normal tyre shop will wince at I'm sure Andy @ AJS would have had experience in them but understandably don't expect to pay the standard balance rate mucho beer tokens required & deserved

whats the legality of beadlocks for on road use?

Well I'm not worried about balancing the wheels, but if your taking your wheels off for the winter Ken. What are you putting on instead??
I plan on keeping the boost alloys possibly wrap them with some different rubber but I want the muds on over winter. It was great up in scotland this year and we've already had predictions of snow next month. With all this in mind I think I'm gonna toss the terrafirmas to the way side (but I do like them) and look at the ZU and Mach 5's. I've just got to consider alloy or metal (cost too), not to forget I need to decide what size rubber to use. Cheers for all the help guys Russell |

I'm fitting Modulars with BFG KO's on
its the BL bolts that will corrode not the wheel nuts
Oh why BL caus they bring the rim out to 8J |

If beadlockers bolts corrode as Ken says and the Mach 5s are like hen's teeth like I suspect, I think ZUs may be your only remaining option out of your choices. Devon do have some Staun Beadlockers on 'special' but I don't think they're your size specified. Alternatively get some decent boots for Winter use on your boosts and run two sets. Sure Ken'll do you a good boot price.
