Yep, agree, but if the oil isn't being cooled then that can affect engine temperature rather than control it, probably unlikely to make that much of a difference to overheat it though. Craig Rogers

doubt it as engine thermostat would just open more to cool engine

remember a thermostat is not just open or closed it regulates the flow of water to maintain engine temp

if you drive steady then thermostat will be open a little bit , boot it and engine makes more heat thermostat opens a bit more

Don't I know that too well.

Decided to take the Defender this morning and it was so cold, the damn thermostat didn't open too much and took ages to get warm, it almost felt like I was in a TD5. Laughing Craig Rogers
