That's almost exactly how I did mine, I hadn't seen that set-up before but it looked to me to be the most obvious and successful option to try. As already stated, the advantage is that by drilling into the lower dash you aren't diverting air that was on its way to the windscreen demisters (wouldn't be a problem for me as I have a heated screen anyway but I just didn't like the idea). For those doing the mod you could always use these to neatly finish the job off on offer from Exmmoor trim

I've got the defender demisters, ugly and plasticky but they avoid pulling apart the dash which I've done so many times I refuse to do it again, and they work just as well as the other option.

I did the demister mod today, same as retroanaconda's link. I used a 16mm internal diameter convoluted tubing (from an old wall paper stripper) and metal inserts for 15mm plastic plumbing pipe. You can definitely feel a blow and it doesn't seem to have affected the flow to the windscreen, just need to fog it up now to test it.
I was out at if from around 9 till 3, but some of that time was awaiting a dremmel and sorting out my mud console wiring, so it is probably a half day job 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6 1994 Def 90 300tdi |
