Used the most, always on.
Worth checking the voltage on them though. |

I got annoyed with it today too after replacing 3 or 4 this year so nipped over to bolt on bits and got a pair of their rdx led sidelights so I'm hoping for no more problems for a good long time.

Hmmm... I'd have to break out my multimeter thing and then figure out how to use it. I've had it for about 20 years and used it... once.
I usually buy the bulbs from Halfrauds. The seem to last about a year. |

You really do need to upgrade to LED units...
A one off, plug and play replacement that will probably last longer than your truck... And they're reasonably priced now, but very effective... And saves you breaking out your MM... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

I'm very tempted. OK - now convinced.
Chris at CSK gave me some LED replacements for the dome lights (which seemed to have a lifespan similar to the sidelights) and they're quite bright and likely to last forever. LED is probably the way to go. Just replaced some halogen spots in the house with LEDs, much softer light and the room doesn't turn into a sauna. |

5 years now and never replaced any exterior bulb - only 40K miles though, which probably helps.

I've done 70k miles/4.5 years and never changed a bulb!!
You can get heavy duty bulbs, seen them in halfords. Supposed to be more vibration resistant and last longer. No experience of them though. As above, voltage issue? Multiples per year sounds excessive unless you drive with side lights on all the time, in which case get some DRLs! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I've had the defender 11 years and only changed them all once, at about 9 years, because they were actually going black on the outside of the glass. 2002 110 TD5 White

Thanks for the advice all... perhaps it has to do with where we live? We're up on top of a hill, it is always misty/damp here.
Anyway, will move to LEDs, enough of this replacing them every year. |
