Had a look at that but it's audio only so doesn't want to let me do it.
I've got a great sound clip though. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic 2010 90 SMC Over Land Nero Edition - Santorini Black Metallic (Now Departed) |

Well it's definitely engine speed related because it gets noticeably faster with that little blip of throttle at the end of your clip. Sounds like something in the engine bay is loose. Engine lift bracket was the first thing that jumped to mind. Presumably you have already opened the bonnet with the engine running and looked / listened for anything that is rattling or loose? 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

It's also interesting that it was serviced just over a week ago and today is the 1st time I've driven it since it came back. Hubby hadn't noticed it but my hearing is a lot more sensitive than his. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Not sure if this will give any more clues.
There is nothing loose when you lift the bonnet and when you look under the bonnet with the engine running you can't hear it. You start to notice it when you are stood by the drivers front wheel and really notice it when you are alongside the drivers door The recording I made was with the iPhone held underneath the drivers footwell. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic 2010 90 SMC Over Land Nero Edition - Santorini Black Metallic (Now Departed) |

No it had an A service and a general inspection. Depressing the clutch doesn't have any impact on the noise either if that helps? 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Sounds a little like something thin and metallic.
Possibly a heat shield loose, or similar metal part. Sounds a little like it increases with revs / vibration. I'd hazard a bet something has been touched during servicing time, I had an issue with earthing. After the clutch change. I don't think it's any EGR issue as it sounds too loud for that and it's on the OS engine bay too. Cannot be the drivetrain as its stationary and it doesn't sound internal I.e. Clutch / pressure plate / flywheel. Possibly turbo heat shield? |

I would have a proper good look under and around the serpentine belt and all the ancillaries to start with, 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I have known the heat shield that sits on the flywheel sensor make strange noises before,
They are only held in the bell housing with 2 metal clips, and can rattle a lot 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I wouldn't say it was a rattle made by something loose , normally rattles that are there on tickover go a bit as revved or at least change sound
always going to be hard to say on a recording , it sounds metallic , but slight blow on one exhaust manifold port ??? almost sounds on one cyl , tappet noise ? hydraulic tappet with air in it , but after you saying its had a run I would have expected it to clear Last edited by munch90 on 22nd Mar 2015 4:35pm.
