That is not my experience Pete. The VCV removed from my 2.4 Puma engine and that from another member HelmutK who examined their VCV internals in the last few days confirmed similar degradation of the mirror polished surface of the piston on part of its circumference. I provided a write up of my findings above. Cheers, John "You are never to old to learn something new" |

Much cheaper Andy!! LR are taking the with their spares pricing, like 3 times the cost. How do they justify that?

Andy, go back up through the thread and find zsd-Puma posts, he found the same part from PF Jones for £54.60 including postage. That's his URL link I've pasted above. John "You are never to old to learn something new" |

I expect, Denso are selling them to Ford, then Ford are selling them to LR, then LR selling them to their dealers, then the dealers selling them to you.... Even from LR they're a bargain compared to the Genuine Injector washers.... Reading on the Transit forums the Pressure releif valve's also fail too, the springs in them go weak - not the pressure switch as someone mentioned earlier on. |

Hi Guys I have been watching all the posting with interest, do any of you guys have the Denso or Ford part number to hand for the suction control valve (VCV ) for the 2.4 Puma, I am ready to have mine out and tease the old one with a big sledge for all the trouble its given me.
I did have the part number but cannot put my hand on it at the moment, I have put it safe somewhere? it cut out this week and stalled, then ran as rough as a badgers butt, the weather is obviously inhibiting it working smoothly, if you can supply any part number it would save me crawling under the bonnet again and getting soaking wet, its pouring down again!!! Is the warranty worth the paper it's written on? Always a risk with ebay, it might not even be a genuine Denso part.
So long as its a reputable company selling it then it should be fine. I went with PF Jones as they're a long estabished Diesel and towbar specialist, i'm confident i can get a refund if the part fails. |

Aftermarket parts can work out perfectly but you have to be very careful and picky.
As I mentioned before I have a Borg & Beck Waterpump which is a direct fit for £70 off eBay compared to LR's at around £350 exc fitting. I was quoted £540 for the whole job, in the end I did it myself for no more than £150. However, this is a physical part and is in no way tied with the electronics side. It could be possible that you would have real problems if a part was. However, that depends exactly on what item to which it is concerned. With the VCV I'd definitely consider it carefully. (Which most of you seem to be doing which is great). âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ Last edited by custom90 on 22nd Feb 2017 7:37pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Hi Guys, I never go for the cheapest, I always go middle of the road on just about everything, so I will choose a part mid way as I have made that mistake in the past and regretted it, cheap is not always wise, I am very wary now of silly prices but from experience I know that LR parts are overpriced and you can get an identical part 50% cheaper by shopping around. If LR are anything like the company I worked for, they bought in a lot of equipment and sold it on at an is inflated prices, at least 100% more than they paid for it!!!

Its just with LR stuuf often there isn't a mid way.
Its either really cheap, slighlt more expensive or really really really expensive. |
