Heater Controls

My '08 DCPU has developed an annoying fault with the heater controls in that the slider for recirculating the cabin air wan't move and the rotary control for airflow direction is stuck. I'm planning to take out the dashboard centre panel but I'm not familiar with the heating and ventilation system and wondered if anyone can suggest what to look for?

My mates did this. I just took off the front of the panel & had a fiddle.

I think it was just 2 things trying to select at the same time

Any how put it back & alls been fine ever since

John, thanks for the link, I found the relevant section. The diagrams are useful and I learned some new terms ('blend door control cables', marvellous!).

Chris, yes, looking at the diagrams I'm guessing it's simply that things have got tangled. Very helpful to see what's behind the panel before removing it!

I had the same, can't quite remember but I am sure it was the force of the fan being on holding it in position?
Have a fiddle in a few settings first

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think any amount of fiddling will free it - panel off, I'm afraid.

Quite often problems with the sliders are down to the plastic melting and deforming due to the heat from the bulbs illuminating the controls, a very common problem.

Be very careful with the heater control unit, it is only available as an assembly and is STAGGERINGLY expensive!
