You wouldn't say that after a couple of winters when they start to stink dynamat, closed cell foam and rubber mats is the way to go

Looks lovely. I too had my doubts about a sunroof but no leaks so far and I wouldn't want to not have one now.

looks great, also get some waxoyl/dinitrol or something while it's nice and clean
there are a set of dualfinish alloys on the for sales forum, but they do scratch very easily |

Thanks. Yes I'm going to try and get the chassis Dynatrolled as soon as possible, but first I need to find someone that can do it. That's not a job I feel I can do myself.
I've taken it for a spin since we changed the steering stops and it is definately quite a bit better. I haven't stopped grinning all day. I am so chuffed to finally have a defender of my own. |

CSK are fairly close, in Hoddesdon, about 45 minutes from MK?
Please would you post photos of how to adjust steering stops. I am sure my 110's aren't right. I expected the turning circle of the royal barge but even the 88" turns on a sixpence by comparison. If anyone else can reference the correct thread - it will have to be an Idiot's Guide for me - that would be great. 1970 Series 2A 88" |

That was the easy bit as it turned out - took me and my friend (who is more mechanically minded) about 15 minutes to adjust the steering.
Taking the seats out on the other hand took a lot longer (although a very straight forward job). I was going to put rubber grommets in all the holes left in the bodywork, but in the end I just decided to put all the screws back in and add nuts, washers and bolts to the four remaining holes. Is this what others have done? I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow so I can drive my Defender! |

My 110 CSW was put on the road in Addis Ababa in early January this year. I got to drive it in March. Turning circle is noteably bad, so some advice regsrding how much it can be improved by these changes would be very much appreciared.
I thought about a sun roof and certainly miss one, but the highlands of Ethiopia have a long and very heavy rainy season ladting for up to 4 months, so opted for less opportunities for the rain to get in! rear vision is also appaling, so have sourced extra large convex mirror heads from Mud to replace the existing poor efforts. Next thing is a Mantec, or similar swing away rear wheel carrier. Any advice re alternatives would be very much appreciated. Final initial observation relates to the lack of internal storage space. Again Mud replacement glove boxis on its way to be fitted as well as one of their headlining storage consoles. as time pases, a roof rack to follow, towing system to tow an off road trailer will be fitted indue course. car cost me a lot of money, but in my view was worth it. There are 5 of us and it is the family car, so seven forward facing seats are a must. This leaves little room for when we travel across east africa, so rather than overload the car, I have decided that a proper off road camping trailer is the best way forwards for us. all the very best to all and I look forwards to many years of ownership. Hope the drive in was good today Try and stop grinning, it'll distract everyone you're working with.
Looks very good; might have to sneak a look at your steering stops if we manage to be in the same place anytime soon. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon |
