My 2009's aerial doesn't get above the top of the windscreen iirc, will check later. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

I'm betting the internet could provide replacement aerials of suitable length, although am struggling to remember enough physics to judge if the length significantly affects reception ... 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

Hello Smilesapart
A close call on your height clearance, and good advice from Green Machine with the Aerial 'height guage'. Know your exact height(s), this will be slightly different for all, and will obviously change again if roof bars, racks and top boxes are fitted, (I have written them down and placed them in my sun visor). The Aerial 'trick' works most of the time but it is possible to get uncomfortably close or potentially still get it wrong. The picture below was taken shortly after collecting my 90 (and before changing its number plate), visiting one of our clients. The underground car park (2.1M Headroom) is approached on a ramp that is reasonably steep and 'bottoms out' just ahead of where the 90 currently is. My Aerial 80 mm higher than my roof, with my roof at 2020mm clears just and the rest of the 90 follows ok, but an employee here with a 110, on a slightly higher tyre & wheel set up gets very very close <30mm and although parks there regulatory still says he ducks each time he goes in and even closes the sunroof to feel better! Click image to enlarge 2020mm 90 in a 2.1M Carpark Your 100 XS looks great, the usual Security and Corrosion Prevention will no doubt be on your TO DO list (I have ordered these two intentionally!) I have a OEM Sunroof fitted, that wasn't there when the vehicle was originally sold and so far it's fine, not a drop in over the recent wet months, the added light levels in the front are worth it and it is also good for lowering the temperature quickly when we get our 'summer', the only negative I can see (assuming it doesn't leak) is that condensation does form on the underside due to the temp difference, a leather close to hand will fix this. I guess potentially a sunroof is another unauthorised way into your defender although I have never heard of it. Happy ownership. The back of my new, unladen 110 van is actually 2065mm high (the LR blurb says 2027mm). The underside of my garage door frame is 2034mm from the ground. The blurb made me think it would fit. It didn't.
However, all I had to do to fit it in was let the back tyres down a bit... ...to 5psi! I'm glad I've got a compressor or my leg would have dropped off pumping them back up again. Memo to self: Let the tyres down before backing it out! |

I've managed to source a pair of unused genuine LR Premium Seats for my new XS ones in part X plus £800, fitted. And I'm glad as I find the current ones a bit unsupportive at the sides for me with my bad back. Does that sound about right? At LR they wanted £800 Each!! PLUS VAT!!

I've now fitted the Premium seats and padded cubby box. Looks great but the seats seem significantly more comfortable and supportive, so to me it was well worth the money.
When I went to collect them they had this white Defender for sale with 100 miles on the clock. I'd never have chosen white but actually it looked awesome. What do you think? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Well so does my Aintree green to be fair. It's filthy already and I've only had it a week!
Saw the leather covered dash cover, grab handle and dash top above when I was getting my seats today and thought they looked really good. Maybe something to save up for. I like the bumpers with the LED daytime running lights too, and the small momo steering wheel. This Defender ownership lark I can see is going to end up costing me a fortune! |
