Blackwolf will get photo of fuel over in a bit but in the meantime what should I be looking for in terms of resistance on the clutch switch?

Just put me finger in the tub and was going to say it was grit but then noticed it easily changed to what seemed more like powder?

Thanks rustyM
Blackwolf - had you known from the outset you would have to replace the vcv do you think fuel treatment would have been sufficient? Anyone know if Halford sell tdci fuel filters? |

You can do some basic home testing on a vcv before replacement This maybe of some help.....
Yes in all "diesel bug" cases in the marine world I have come across only filter change required during the first stage of treatment. M 90 & Wolf 110 XS Previously owned SI SII SIIa SIII & Light weight (air portable) |

No, I didn't. I drained the tank, changed the filter (several times), which made no difference. I then dropped the tank, cleaned a lot of crud out of the breather, pick-up, and tank itself, flushed the lines, replaced the filter, and it still didn't run! Even though I was sure the tank was clean, I had the fuel "polished" and changed the filter again. Still not right.
(Symptoms rough running, rough idle, stalling on tick-over, lack of power accelerating). Almost in desperation I eventually spoke to the senior tech at my favourite main dealer. He immediately diagnosed either EGR or VCV, but said the lack of any stored fault codes ruled out the EGR (he also didn't know it's disabled through software). He also stated that on every single vehicle they've had through the workshop for the water-in-fuel-reroute-breather TSB they've had to replace the VCV to get it running right afterwards. I bought my VCV from Ford since the LR dealer had none in stock, and the Ford parts man said "we sell hundreds of these". He knew the part number from memory. So no, I didn't know at the outset, but would now change it as a matter of routine. It is clearly a sensitive item and easily damaged by contaminants of any kind. |

I see you are up in Birmingham so I am not sure who is a supplier? I would suggest online from here maybe your best option.
http://www.asap-supplies.com/green/aquasoc...yme-314101 As I have not had any dealings with small engines that have vcv's Blackwolf's advice is what I would also act on with regards to the vcv M 90 & Wolf 110 XS Previously owned SI SII SIIa SIII & Light weight (air portable) |

Thanks BW.
I recall your previous posts. The thing I find most strange and I believe we've both experienced this is the short lived improvement from replacing the fuel filter.... if the vcv was shot (and clearly it was) why would new filter make an improvement? |

RustyM. I have replaced one vcv already and as such loathed to replace another without some reassurance it's going to solve problem?

Are you sure all that muck didn't come off the rim of the filter when you emptied it? Muck can still sit on the rim of the filter from driving.

That was from the drain at the bottom but I guess you're right in so much as it could have been from the drain point?
Will drain some more and so what’s what....i might put some rape over the drain for future reference......good idea. |
