Unreliable Fuel Reading
Okay so I came to start my truck up, knowing that it was just about to hit the orange on the fuel guage, so the fuel light wasnt even on yet.... yet it wouldnt start Mad
anyone any ideas why it would say it has fuel, yet not start due to there being no fuel!? A Defender... Mans best friend, never judges, trustworthy (most of the time), go anywhere, do anything, looks the business, and mans biggest money pit!!!

The obvious one is that the sender is either faulty or poorly adjusted. Darren

I've faffed about with my sender after fitting a new tank (90 300tdi) but still gives false reading above half a tank. How do you adjust it? 2007 Defender Puma Tonga Green

It could be soemthing as simple as bending the float arm slightly so that it registers the full range of travel. It's also worth checking that it's not installed in such a way that it's catching on the side of the tank or the fuel pick-up. Darren

As it's a Td5, is the fuel pump running? There may be fuel in the tank but not getting to the engine, there's many other reasons why it's not starting.

Ah right okay, I'm not entirely heeled up on this area...
So how do you properly check the fuel pump? Or adjust the sender? A Defender... Mans best friend, never judges, trustworthy (most of the time), go anywhere, do anything, looks the business, and mans biggest money pit!!!
