puma speaker size and radio connector
Sorry if it's been beaten to death already...
But in a few days my new 2014 90 arrives without a factory radio installed.

I want to buy an Alpine radio and some speakers.
I want the simpelest plug and play solution possible...

2 questions:

-What is the the size of the speakers that go right in without customizing anything?
-Do you need a connector to plug the alpine into the Defender? If yes where to get?

thank you.
Geoffrey

Hi,

For most head units you need an iso adaptor cable for 2010 model year onwards. Check with the radio supplier before you buy that it is iso.
Speakers are 100mm under dash. Finding the cables is fun, they are taped up inside the dash and not that easy to locate.

Mudstuff have lots of bits to help you fit everything.

FYI The iso adaptor i received needed the light cable moving to illumiinate the radio, the pins push out using a watchmakers screwdriver pushed against the small retaining clip. Paul

not sure if you have 'halfords' or similar across the channel, but if you go to them they will give all the information you need, and will probably stock a suitable radio, speakers and any connectors required Cheers, David

Above is all correct, the speakers are 10cm, but you will need to likely fit aftermarket connectors or at least one. Also although the size of 10cm is standard to get the speaker and grille to sit in its correct orientation and not at a 45degree angle you may have to drill screw holes. Thank you. My LR dealer said that they usually just solder in the iso connector.
I chose an Alpine 173 BT head unit and 10 cm Pioneer speakers. My local car audio shop quoted me 230 euro for head unit, speakers and fitting.
Thanks for all the advice.

Hi all, am in the same situation, new 2014 90 SW Very Happy .
There are what look like rear speaker reservations in black plastic panels facing forward either side of the rear door.
Does anyone know if there is cabling to the rear as there is cabling factory standard to the front and tweeters?
Cheers
G

There should be but might be hidden and tied up with other wires behind there. Shouldn't be too difficult to check. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Can you confirm the colours of the speaker wires hidden up under the dash?
