Thanks
Agree about the twisted retro td5 looking good, id love to own that! Im not to keen on the stage 1 grilles myself although there is a beautiful utility on here with one. Think ill stick with how it is unless i do a mesh one, but will wait as think the other bits will change the look a lot, especially the hood, which is being made for me with no side windows so still a bit like a van. Ive left the wheels to the painter which colour he chooses/ can get easiest between limestone or the slightly more creamy colour the dash is which Chris remembered the code of. Its the arches I want on the most though as will make the biggest difference, but will have to wait as picking the custom galvanized hood frame and tailgate special bits up tomorrow evening Will pressed plates be overdoing it? I'm in favor at the moment (wont be until I've got the paperwork to put mine on though) Another question to what do you Reckon the chances ar that its painted under the rear door hinges once there removed? Pressed plates might look nice but would be illegal.
I wouldn't put any money on paint under the hinges, I'm afraid. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

I was under the impression that colored ones would be legal? the Fire station I work in has the police in now so will have to do some research, as its a bit obvious parked there. I was politely advised about bald front tyres before! (on a land rover approved body-shops courtesy car I might add that was promptly taken back)
Not sure regarding the soft top as think its still at csk as the new owner who sounded Edit. YOUNG VERY YOUNG aged is having a few things done by Chris like x-tec wheels and some interior work, so unlikely. Dont know where its going really, but he's planning to take it to the LRO show. He might join here as its his first on I believe. Cheers Tom Defender puma dormobile camper Last edited by SailingTom on 4th Apr 2014 7:41am. Edited 1 time in total |

More shiny bits From Purely Metal in Suffolk and when its fitted testing this new tailgate system for them as haven't tried it on a Defender yet. So beautifully simple cant see how it wont work though. They will be powder-coated apparently, but I wanted it galvanized which they were happy to do it like that. I think they'll sell well personally and think it goes with the traditional look. The hood sticks are the same they supply to Nene Overland, but again I had it galvanized and the rear light bracket added before it was. Hoods being dispatched the 18th so will all start then. Ill probably get the wheels before and the spacers arrived today.

Nice idea! How does the bottom left hinge detach when you want to open it sideways? Guessing the hinge pin pulls out somehow? 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Thats it yes, it will be a drop nose pin so its quick to get out. Most the time i'll use it as normal, but occasionally it will prove its worth as do put heavy things in so will make loading much easier. Defender puma dormobile camper

Wheel arches on this morning quite a fiddly job really along with 30mm spacers as had no turning lock before with my tyres. I think it looks much better as hated the grey plastic arches. Repainted the calipers black while the wheels were off to as yellow wasnt my taste (Sorry Chris )

No Big updates just getting it ready for the following weeks work if all arrives in time, so been disconnecting wiring and sorting bits. Took a while as the bonnet's stuck shut so will try and open it tomorrow to take off the rear washer pipe, car . Fitted the rear LED work light to the hoop with hidden wiring aswell along with knocking up a quick ply side pannel (saves me a £200 repair bill in dings if I leave tools on the arch inside!) put a couple of holes in it to shove cloths and a hiviz before covering it quickly in vinyl. Its only a quick job so if it works ill redo it most likely. Sent off to put my plate on to.
My plans to have a bench seat on the left and storage on the right, I want cage in the rear right arch so I can put tools in it and not on the floor.
