Have you been reading too many conspiracy theories of late? There is no secret squirrel stuff - my understanding of the situation is as follows. Some time ago there was a Forum group buy type arrangement that offered a discount off the normal price of an Adrenalin Pedal Lock - apparently there were quite a few takers and I never read a single complaint. That was some time ago, there was no indication of the length of time the discount was valid for. Since then the product has been updated to reflect changes that Land Rover made to air conditioning and bonnet release fittings in the footwell. Now Adrenalin like any other business have to price their products to be competitive and yet still make enough profit to make the business sustainable. When I recently made contact with Adrenalin I politely asked if they were still offering a forum discount and I was offered a very attractive proposition. Now whether this discount is discretionary or entitlement I care not a jot - I'm just delighted with the quality of the product, the fast delivery service, the cheery boss to deal with and the final price. Now it would be very unfair to Adrenalin for me to 'advertise' a particular level of 'discount' when I am in no position to commit Adrenalin to supplying every Tom, Dick & Harry at that discounted price. The company may choose to come onto the forum and declare whether a discount for forum members is currently being offered - I'm only stating that I was offered one and I'm a very happy customer (and a very relaxed customer when my Defender is parked up in town). So apologies if some readers think my postings are 'secret squirrel' - I have no idea if Adrenalin offer the same level of discount to everyone but I'd like to think it was discretionary - so grumpy and rude people pay more - for what is an excellent product from a company that I found a pleasure to deal with! |

lol at "so grumpy and rude people pay more" - you think that's how business works?
If it's unfair to mention the discount you got then why bother even raising the issue and placing the vendor in a potentially difficult position of loosing a sale if he doesn't offer the next person one also. I think this forum, and other ones like it, work best when it information is shared fully as per pjb's post. I'd like to think I would do the same unless the vendor has explicitly requested me not to do so. "apologies if some readers think my postings are 'secret squirrel'" - accepted just don't do it again I hope this doesn't sound like I'm having a further pop at you but please don't leave it unsecured behind you - think of the potential risk to you or your passengers under an emergency brake/hitting a pothole/accident etc. "The National Roads and Motorists’ Association claim that if you brake suddenly while traveling at least 31 mph, groceries in the back seat will hit you with the same force as if they had fallen from a two-story building. A bottle of water could hit with a weight of 44 lbs. When a car decelerates violently, the force of gravity can mean a loose object packs 20 times the punch it would normally." |

Supacat is making me smile this evening with "so grumpy and rude people pay more" - you think that's how business works?
As someone who is very involved in business development, I might not offer grumpy and rude people the most competitive rates. At another level the canteen staff might ensure that those who are rude and grumpy get half rations - those who are friendly and enjoy a little banter perhaps get a larger portion. The mechanic I use might charge a 'premium' rate for those who don't treat him with a degree of respect. The tyre fitter dislikes folk who are rude and come in with deflated run-flat tyres that mess up his workshop - that's another guy who doesn't qualify for the discounted rate. Private sector companies have all sorts of ways of dealing with grumpy and rude people - usually by hitting them in the pocket and often they aren't bright enough to realise it. But to bring this thread back on topic - In my book, Adrenaline understand and have grasped the basics of exemplary customer care. Anyway I'm off to investigate lukev01's suggestion of using a recycling bag to store my Adrenaline pedal lock whilst in transit ........ as Supacat has indicated that an unsecured one could do me (or someone else) an injury in the event of an incident. |

I had mats down, had to remove it to install the lock. I know of someone who has attached the mat to the inside of the lock, but it looks a bit messy to me. I think some sort of grip tape/mat would help on the inside, but I've gone without for months now without any major problems. And Cuthbert - in a crash - that unsecured lock could easily kill someone. |

A guy just up the road had a minor RTC in his defender the other day, around 30mph and the only injury was (thankfully) a glancing blow to his temple from a flying tyre iron.. lucky!!

I'm thinking of bolting the pedal lock through the carpet and sticking some rubber matting to the inside of the pedal, would this work?

Not sure I understand your question - is this when fitted to the pedals or somewhere else when you are driving?

My defender has a carpet fitted already, I want to fit the X-eng pedal lock on top of the carpetting because I don't really want to go back to a bare metal floor, when I fold the lock down (so that I can drive / have access to the pedals) I want to stick a thin rubber matting to the inside surface (the side that goes against the pedals) so that if my feet are wet they won't slip. Would this work?

I guess you could leave carpet in place if you put a spacer under the bit that's bolted to the floor
It's only bare metal when the thing is locked though, so I'd personally lose the carpet (shouldn't have carpets in defenders anyway! ) |

What do you use then to soak up the water that leaks through the front?
