As you've mentioned the X-eng version that I believe stays on the floor and just folds up into position.. has anyone got any comments about this type.. how does it compare as a security device to the ardcase and the adrenalin versions..

It's f'in brilliant!

It doesn't fit PUMAs though

Got one on my tdi and can't sing its praises high enough - it locks in under a second and it takes at MOST 5 seconds to unlock - usually nearer 3.

That and when unlock it just folds down and 'becomes' part of the floor - no lump to whack you in the head if you have a crash, and no mucking about strapping/locking it down

Really couldn't sing its praises high enough.

You've described all of the benefits against the others but is it as secure.. how easy would it be for someone to force it off (hinges or otherwise)?

read the site:

Quote:
The X-Defend Pedal Lock, like all the other pedal locking products, prevents the clutch, brake and throttle pedal from being operated, making a vehicle quite hard to drive!

Unlike all the others, this remains bolted to the floor of the vehicle. When not in use, it folds flat on the floor and seat box, forming the floor of the cab.In this position it can be covered with your usual floor mat.

This means you dont have to store a 20kg lump of metal which could be lethal if it hit you in the event of an RTA or while off roading. It also means that locking is incredibly quick. Just release the catch which holds it against the seat box and slam it against the pedals. A 10mm thick steel claw grabs the brake pedal shaft and ratchets in tight against it. It can be locked in a couple of seconds! To unlock you turn the key which releases the pedal and fold flat on the floor.

The Pedal lock is supplied in tough, corrosion proof 304 Stainless steel and uses formed hinges with a 6mm stainless pin. Stainless is one of the most difficult materials to cut with a disk cutter. It took 4 disks to cut one in half! Like our other products it is supplied with an anti-drill, British Made Lowe & Fletcher RPT Lock.

all the hinges are built into the metal pieces, so nothing to prise off - it comes with security bolts/nuts to hold it to the floor

there's a 10mm hook around the brake pedal and the whole thing is something like 6mm stainless steel - going to take some doing and a load of noise getting that off!

There was a report on the old X-eng website that someone had had an attempted theft of their 90 - and the perps had had a go at the pedal lock with a scaffold bar and couldn't get it off.

Paddocks sell them too

And nope, no rattle.

The claw bit may at first if you haven't tightened the bolts enough.

It bolts to the floor panel. There are 5 or 6 bolts provided - but you won't get them all in. I think the instructions says 3 is sufficient.

Yes floor will need to be drilled to get bolts through!

So the bottom bolts to the floor and the top clamps around the brake pedal, is that right.. I wouldn't want to drill into the bulkhead.

Not sure I'm aware of anyone acting in the manner suggested. I like the kit & others have mentioned a forum discount but then been cagey when asked for details. Perhaps there isn't one in the accepted sense of a vendor making an offer to a forum as a whole as it's a very good marketing tool to a very targeted audience & nothing sells as well as enthusiasts reviewing kit & giving real world and totally honest feedback - hopefully with a few photos Smile

I emailed them, mentioned the forum ordered one on Friday arrived yesterday & fitted today Thumbs Up

I paid £100 + £10 postage - £25 discount off ebay but I paid by bank trf as prefer.

Great service & another security layer Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

Quality info Thumbs Up

I'm just musing where I would leave it in the vehicle when driving. Would prefer somewhere it could be secured - possibly a dummy post to be locked to.

Anyone done anything with theirs?

As Land Rover have stopped fitting a middle seat in the front of the Defender - I use that gap to manhandle my Adrenalin lock into the rear. It's so heavy it tends not to move about when driving along and it provides an upper body work out when retrieving it at my destination. Just don't drop it - or it will damage you or your Defender's interior.
