I've run nothing but Solihull products for over forty years.
Are Land Rover now designing 'poser' vehicles or real 'off-roaders'?
Maybe it's 'The wrong kind of mud' Rolling Eyes
I'm seventy years old.
I no longer have the ability to service myself so have to rely on others.
The cost of removing the radiator umpteen times a year would be prohibitive.

...and, what about people on prolonged expeditions who would not have the time or facility?

My 110 has the same characteristics as your 90 Laurie, I know that there are "blocked" portions of the radiator due to various samples of England and Wales lodging in the fins. I will one day take the rad out and clean it properly but not untill after the 28th as no doubt it will get more added to it. As an aside according to my Nanocom mine doesn't go into limp mode untill it reaches 115'C and like yours just dropping the speed, heater flat out soon brings it back.to full power.

The intercooler is probably partially blocked too this would also cause a rise in engine temperature.

After my blocked radiator incident i used to use a tarp to block of the bottom 3/4 of the grille when i was likely to drive through dirty water this did,nt cause any problems with temperature when pottering around off road but did stop the rad blocking. 2005 Td5 90 XS

My TDI only just gets up to temp at the end of my 24 mile commute at the moment, though I suspect I may have over-cooling issues....
but I'd rather be overly cool than too hot.....I think Cool
