I am using Wipac Crystals with Halfords ultra bulbs. The cost was £25 for the pair of bulbs (buy 1 get 1 free) and the crystals were about £40. They give a really bright and clear white light and I am really pleased with them, especially considering the cost. If the price of LEDs fall, I may swap over to them at some point.

thanks for the updates, did you align the lights yourselves after fitting or take the Defender to a garage for alignment? BM52

In theory, changing headlights shouldn't affect the alignment as they can be swapped without touching the alignment screws. Darren

LRA - I agree with you in principle and thought the same, however when MOT time came around they did need adjusting and were out. I changed to Crystals and SS bezels and swapped out only removing the retaining screw on each light, I did not adjust at all.
So basically the originals were aligned correctly but the new ones weren't despite a like got like swap without touching the adjustment screws.
Saying all this, I didn't actually notice they were out if alignment myself & and when it was found yo be at the MOT at Ford the tester was kind enough to adjust them for nothing and then passed it with no advisories.
Even if you wanted to Greg them aligned on their own with the proper equipment at a garage it should only cost £10 £20 Chillin In The BackwoodsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Those crystals look good! Where's the best place to buy some? I've got a pair of led sidelights fitted and they make the dipped beam look like candles.

Haha I bought my cryatals from ebay I also fitted stainless bezels at the same time. and I got m. Bulbs from eurocarparta they haf a tasty sale On. The crystal lamps really do feel leagues ahead of the shocking standard lamps. I rwally cant fatham why they dont come standard. When buying crystals be sur. To buy the ones with out the side lamp hole in it. Mine have them but they arent noticable. I have been tempted to make use of them but not sure how to yet
