Wipers
Ok, just arrived and already annoying .... but please help

Don't know if this is the right place to post this
I have this problem with the wipers : 3 positions - 2 of them same speed and action , i.e First down does the same of First up.

Any idea where to look at ?

Possibly wiper motor park switch (common fault, £25 from LR),do the wipers sometimes stop mid-screen?

It does sound like the park switch, my first 90 did the same.

Only buy genuine park switches.

Easy job unless you've got air con. But as mentioned original part only. Very basic job.

Changed the wiper motor once on my Series , quite easily (rust apart)

Do not worry. Even with A?C it is not difficult. I have just been through the entire wiper system replacing the wheel boxes, rack, gears, arms, spigot and park switch. All of it can be done without touching the A/C, only the centre dash, dash top and bits behind need to be moved.

Incidentally doing this has revolutionised the vehicle, best wipers I have ever had on a Defender. They do 90 degrees no more no less... Thumbs Up
