Air in fuel line
anyone had similar?

The 2-4 TDCi had it's service, with 25K mile on the clock. It came back from the main dealer and next day kept dying on tick-over....new fuel filter fitted. Seemed better.

Then it started surging. Then about two weeks later, engine management light comes on and there is no accelerator..three hours later, I have an accelerator again. That was eight weeks ago....it has been at the dealers ever since!!

Now they have just discovered huge air lumps in the return fuel pipe....

Neither the dealer nor LR Technical have any idea what is wrong or how to sort it.

Any help would be most appreciated....absolutely desperate now. This is the short version of a loooong saga!!

Thanks 2020 First Ed 110.

Not had anything similar but what were the logged DTC's for the MIL lamp? My first impression on your symptoms is the Fuel overflow valve on the fuel pump is faulty allowing air (drop in pressure) into the High pressure side of the pump. but it could be a number of faults ranging from the fuel pump to an issue with the pipe work to the fuel cooler or a leak in the cooler housing or the fuel pump itself. The only way to really tell is do a live data session on SDD and watch to see what the high pressure side of the pumps readings are at the common rail. An easier option would be for the dealers to swap out a known working fuel pump into yours to see if the pump is at fault. Thumbs Up
