The squealing could be your exhaust manifold has warped. Check for the studs being loose/snapped, and sooty deposits at either end of manifold.

UJ's don't always vibrate, sometimes they really do squeel. a kind of cyclic squeel, as the thing rotates. try pumping some grease into them just to be sure. |

Interesting will check today - it is chipped so could be a possibility. Will also double check UJ's 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top |

Having that same issue with mine.
Think the manifold is warped. Mine to has been remapped. Will be checking it this weekend. |

Another vote for a warped exhaust manifold, I'm afraid. Had the same on my wifes' old DII, twice! Darren

I think it depends how badly it's warped. We ended up with a new one as the manifold failed pretty catastrophically second time around, resulting in complete lack of power and a recovery home. Darren

It can be reskimmed and this is the recommended way, otherwise you fit new and it will warp, like the old one. Where as one that has already warped is less likely to again.

Think I've found the problem - warped manifold, thought I would have to check it with feeler gauges - didnt need too was quite obvious
Thanks for the replies, very helpful When taking the manifold off there were 2 gaskets between manifold and head, presume that is normal ? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top |

I had the same problem not long after I had mine remapped. Exchanged the warped manifold for a secondhand one from my indie that had been skimmed but also had the webs between the manifold branches ground out too. Apparantly this helps avoid further warping. 15 months on and still going strong. 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

Same issue with my TD5. When I had mine sorted by MID Engineering they also fitted something from JE Engineering to aid cooling, was only £60 or there abouts. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Presume OEM gasket is made of two thin pieces of metal pressed together because two pieces came off !
Will be ordering new manifold and gaskets tomorrow 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top |
