I'm surprised they haven't got a friggin' flatspot where it's been stood for so long with you going over it with a fine toothcomb.... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I'm glad I can laugh about it but to be honest I feel like I've been a little unlucky with the car especially now with the tyres. The wife thinks its just me as she thinks I always feel hard done by....is it just me or have I been a little unlucky along the way? |

It's you.
What's up with that tyre then - wrong colour or too round, perhaps it's the hole in the middle that isn't to Sirs liking? FFS give us all a break - just use the vehicle and stop worry gutting over the sodding thing. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. It may just be me but I can indeed see a flatspot on that tyre.....
I do have a serious tendancy to agree with MoG wholeheartedly. Just drive it and see what part(s) throw their hand in. You just might be pleasantly surprised....... I'd love to think MOG is having a laugh but the font he's using suggests otherwise....
it may just be me but I think its fair to say I've done a hole heap of moaning - but I'm inclined to think for good reason as things have given up and failed. my latest 'problem' was thought to be wheels out of balance. I'm sure I'm no different to anyone else on here in so much as if you're doing a load of road miles each year you'd go get it sorted rather than wait for something to fall off? so thats what I did only to find that the tyres seem to be shagged in less than 30k miles / 3 years and to that end I'm thinking that most on here would also be a bit miffed and mention it. as I've said 'before sorry for all the moans but please don't read if you've had enough of me' (of which I can understand with all my moans - I'm certainly fed up with all the moans all I wanna do is drive it (preferably without any problems - which I'd have thought was possible) but to your original question....have they got a hole in the middle etc....the fact that they ain't round is the problem |

Caterham,
I mean no offence but am somewhat envious of your sheer determination, doggedness and tenacity. I think truth be told I would have given up long before now if I were you. A few subjects have been like damp squibbs though. A more positive upbeat post now and again would for me be a welcome change though, instead of. 'Caterham's got another issue where's the anti depressants?' Good luck in your quest for something near perfection, I wish to f*** it would come quickly but think with a Defender you personally are on to a non-runner in more ways than one perhaps? Way to much. Try 30 front and 36 rear. Unless you are constantly up at full load r towing a big trailer all the time. That is why they are wearing like they are not cos the alignment is off or the tires are falling apart. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

My tyres are round but I'm getting regular wear on both fronts (gg's) on the inner rubber tread blocks (side closest to engine). Tried taking photos but it doesnt really show it. I don't do excessive cornering speeds and estimate it to be 2mm compared to the rest of the tyre (can't find my tread depth gauge). Is this a symptom of tracking?

LTF
just checked and the fronts 28 & 30 rear 36 and ....quite alot (don't know who the hell did that?) so I seem to recall I've done 30 front and the gauge on pump is set at 36 so I'm sure 36 is what I've set the rears at in the past. |

took car for a wee drive this morning and the vibration I was getting at 52-53 mph is almost certainly down to the tyres.
does the same thing in 5th and 6th. I don't believe the wheels / tyres have gone out of balance (all weights are still in place) and therefore I'm inclined to think what two tyre out lets have said may be true. the tyres aren't right. Once suggested it was cos the tyres are no good for the road the other said its a warranty claim. see what conti have to say tomorrow. on the plus side there can't be too may things left on the car to go wrong |
