Thanks guys.
plenty to go away and try. Steve not sure about the speed / revs thing but I think I have already tried this and dont for example have the same problem in 5th at that speed - memory isn't the best so I need to go away check for sure. plent of other things to check but unfortunately I only get a limited time away from my unit at broadmoor and while I'm here I sometimes get the impression my 'friends' are listening but not really taking it in. gets quite frustrating at times. and if I show my frustration I get less time to go tinkering on Mr def looking for more problems. thats what I love about this site - all my friends listen and are genuinely helpful |

Standing on the pavement in a pair of skimpy running shorts waving madly at passing Land Rovers won't help that either In saying that, driving my Defender my misses does encounter a few strange people on a daily basis... people hanging out of vans taking photo's, people chatting to her at petrol stations and supermarkets, people knocking on the front door - and then strange men waving at her. Little wonder! You could ask them if they've any 'suspected and suspicious non faults' and post them up here and do the worrying for them yourself perhaps? OOPS! I stand corrected! You already are now yours is sorted! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Problem is, it could be almost anything that rotates that may have gone out of balance either because something changed or because it's now being allowed to vibrate 'cos a bearing somewhere has started to wear. Hope you find it sooner rather than later.

the goons are bringing me down......
took your advice and went to get the wheels balanced. come back and the very pleasant chap told he hadn't bothered cos he'd be wasting my money. how's that I asked. cos your tyres are shot and suspects the tracking is out on all of them? - the tread is 'stepped' on the inside of them all and is probably the reason for the vibration and tramlining. with the tramlining I should have guessed but with everything else I kind of forgot about it, that along with the rumbling just assumed it was a LR trait. so problem is now LR are telling me its not a warranty issue but what would cause all to be out of alignment. I grieved to think this is all gonna come out of my pocket but where do I stand? Last edited by Caterham on 1st Aug 2013 6:15pm. Edited 2 times in total |

Ha! I've heard in the past what causes that but unfortunately I can't remember, anyway, let's hope it all ends well. 2.2 90 XS

do agree with this, when i had mine on day one i drove at 70 on motorways and then realised how much that cost me, since ive learned that 60 in 6th is fine for econamy and cruising comfort |

the tyres and truck have done 30k miles. tyres appear to have 50% tread left (ignoring the issue on the inside) and truck will be 3 years old in October.
faults have been on going from day one. I've often accused LR of fixing broken bits but never the source of the problem. gearbox / transfer box shaft was replaced circa Xmas 2012/13 and gearbox about Mar '13. It feels like its been in out every few months. I could probably put a time line together of various faults if you think it might be useful? - what you thinking or are you just curious. |
