See if you can chat up the service dept for you to pay the extra, and have a 4pin diff fitted (unless it's already got a HD front axle), shouldn't cost much, and you get a nice HD one then.

Land rover dont produce the 2 pin diff anymore from what i have heard.
Better fitting an ashcroft ATB cheaper (i know you have warranty but will it break down the line?) And it takes up the slack in the drivetrain nicely William |

A 2012 110 will have a 4-pinion diff as standard.
Unusual for a 4-pinion to fail, do you know what was the failure mechanism? 2-pinion failures on early Puma 110s are not unusual, photos of a typical failure from my gallery:- Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Not easy to make out, but the pin has sheared allowing the differential pinions to shift and seize the differential gears. It was very 'interesting' driving when this happened! |

10MY onwards should have all been fitted with 4 pin front diffs. Cheers

Back on the road today, happy to give back the Renault traffic I've had since last Wednesday !!
I'm no mercanic but I was told it wasn't the diff it was some part inbetween the diff and transfer box, its come back with a stiffer clutch and a nice tight gearbox which feels nice. |

I was told by a main dealer that LR now ONLY supply 4-pinion diffs, which rather suggests that the 90 has a 4-pinion in the front as well. I think that the 90 now has a 4-pinion Rover pattern diff front and rear, the 110 has the 4-pinion Rover front but retains the 4-pinion P38 rear.
The 2-pinion Rover pattern diff part number has been superseded by the 4-pinion Rover pattern diff number in the EPC. I never really understood why the 90 only 'needed' the weaker diff if the 110 needed the stronger anyway, after all they have the same powerplant and transmission, and the GVWs (or MAMs in the modern vernacular) are not that different. It would be interesting if someone 'in the know' could confirm this for certain. |
