I need to do something with my Spare also, tucked against the tub headboard takes up so much room.

It's a worth while mod and how it should be from the factory. Makes the rear tub a lot more useable. |

Managed to get a bike lock around the bracket and through the spare for better security as the locking wheel nut is worse than a normal wheel nut.

That's quite an elegant solution and certainly food for thought over putting the spare on an external wheel carrier.
Out of interest did you look at or consider the OEM recessed tray arrangement that's available? |

I was told about the tray but didn't fancy carving the wheel boxes and thought this was simplest solution. I am surprised the DC has the sloping wheel boxes and not the square type like in the HT.
I didn't consider swing away as it restricts loading or else I would hae got a Ute |

Great! Did you fit any reinforcement bracket/plate under the wheel arch? Or on the edge where you have those screws?
don't see one since the SIII 109... Do you have any pics or the part number for that item?
