With the lack of space in the rear tub I thought I'd relocate the spare wheel to mount on the wheel box to make more room. I got a 6mm alloy plate 600x300 folded at a right angle to make 500x300 with 100mm fold. Fixed the alloy to the wheel box and to the tub and then utilised the extg wheel mount to hold spare in place Thumbs Up

I need to do something with my Spare also, tucked against the tub headboard takes up so much room.

It's a worth while mod and how it should be from the factory. Makes the rear tub a lot more useable.

Managed to get a bike lock around the bracket and through the spare for better security as the locking wheel nut is worse than a normal wheel nut.

That's quite an elegant solution and certainly food for thought over putting the spare on an external wheel carrier.

Out of interest did you look at or consider the OEM recessed tray arrangement that's available?

I was told about the tray but didn't fancy carving the wheel boxes and thought this was simplest solution. I am surprised the DC has the sloping wheel boxes and not the square type like in the HT.
I didn't consider swing away as it restricts loading or else I would hae got a Ute Thumbs Up

Hi

Great!
Did you fit any reinforcement bracket/plate under the wheel arch? Or on the edge where you have those screws?
