08 Plate, 22000 miles and it throws a diff out!
Raging!

The connecting rid inside the pin broke today and the diff siezed shut with all the wee bits.

Spent the night reading up in atb and recon diffs from ashcroft. Which one should i go for? for £60 extra i can get the atb Rolling Eyes

I have old diffs lying about but would prefer a new/recon one for the road car. 90% road 10% the other stuff Razz

What would you guys do? William

I'm guessing it's the usual problem of a 2-pinion diff failing on an early Puma.

Irrespective of which axle, fit an Ashcroft ATB. It's cheaper than a genuine parts replacement (which will be 4 pinion now anyway) but much stronger, as well as the traction advantages of an ATB. Works perfectly in either axle with no ill-effects on steering if in front axle. If you want an even stronger diff get an Ashcroft HD ring and pinion fitted, but be aware it is likely to whine a bit under certain driving conditions.

Just paid for my atb diff from paddocks(Ashcroft isn't open at weekends. Sad hopefully get it on Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

I still can't believe at 22000 miles a diff could blow! Just as we'll I was at the house at the time Smile William
