Isn't that relay between the live feed and the switch, then on to Headlamps, with the switching source being the ignition? It still routes power through the switch.
Or have I got the diagram upside down? 54 Freelander modded for mud 2008 D3 SE 2010 90 XS SW 1978 88 Series 3 undergoing surgery with a new owner 2007 90 County Truck Cab - gone 2006 D3 SE - gone 2004 Freelander Sport - gay 1999 Disco V8 ES rotted to bits |

Yes, that's right. The relay does not protect the switch, hence all the threads about melting switches and replacement looms. Darren

You can change the switch but soon or later (more soon than later) you will be again in the same situation

As said, headlight upgrade loom. Very good quality fully prepared easy to install looms are available from www.landreiziger.nl All very well detailed in this thread here. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic26097....ndreiziger Here is the link directly to the loom plus a new light switch https://shop.landreiziger.nl/modificatie/m...elaar.html Here the link to the loom alone https://shop.landreiziger.nl/modificatie/m...elais.html And here the link to the loom with ceramic light connectors https://shop.landreiziger.nl/modificatie/m...toren.html Comes with English language instructions, just make sure when ordering that you need those though. Good luck. Eric You never actually own a Defender. replace switch to fix headlights ( commom problem ) Then add the upgrade loom to protect the switch , the loom is added extra to standard wiring , no need to touch standard wiring , only thing might be if yours has dim dip you will need to disconnect that part |

Hi All,
For anyone wondering why use a relayed system, you will find a good explanation at below link.. How Relays Work and I found a 5.33 Pound alternative to the Dutch one.. H4-H4-Headlight-Headlamp-Black-Booster-Wire-Harness-Cable Hope this will work.. |
