Speedo calibration
OK, I've changed the transfer box this week from my 90 Td5 (1.4 gearing) for a Discovery one (1.2 gearing), works very well, very pleased with the results, only thing is the speedo is reading about 10% too slow compared to a GPS trial. When doing 55 on the GPS the speedo's reading 50 and so on.

I'm running 235/85/16's at the moment.

I put the green transducer from the Defender box onto the Disco transfer box, is there a way of recalibrating it?
Is it a case of swapping the speedo drive to a different one?
Also, will it give me low mileage in the long run?!!

My 110 and 90 also does the same thing.

If i fit my 255/85's, then the speedo is spot on with the GPS

Land Rover 90/110 speedo drive gears
• Colour: blue/20 teeth - Part number: FRC3310 - Tyres: 7.50/16 or 235/85/16
• Colour: green/21 teeth - Part number: FRC3311
• Colour: yellow/22 teeth - Part number: FRC3312 - Tyres: 205/16 tyres
• Colour: red/24 teeth - Part number: FRC3313

You can change the speedo drive for one with more or less teeth, calculate the correct ratio / number of teeth according to your measurements.

90/110 speedo drive gears
frc3310 blue ------- 20 teeth -- 7.50,235/85 or 255/85 tyres 20D & 22D transfer box
frc3311 green ------ 21 -- all 90 vehicles excepth the 50th ann edition.
frc3312 yellow ----- 22 -- 90 with 205 x 16 tyres
frc3313 red -------- 24 -- 32D transfer box

Discovery 1 [200Tdi/V8]
frc3310 blue ------- 20 -- diesel
frc9339 ------------ 23 -- [see note]

frc3310 blue ------- 20 -- V8 efi
frc9339 ------------ 23 -- V8 twin carb

Note frc9339 diesel for gulf states vehicles,no colour code listed, auto trans Tdi vehicles

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll have to remove/look at the one on the car at the moment and work out which one I'll need, will the one from the original 90 Def box fit and read ok or will the gearing make it read wrong? Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

If your original transfer box read correctly then just use the speedo drive gear from that one. The speedo drive is on the output of the transfer box so the ratio of the transfer box has no effect on the speedo. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Not sure, I've not taken it out to look at it to be honest, I just swapped the sensors over, black to green.

I think in most cars you will find the GPS is 5mph in front of your clocks most car company give as much as 10% on clocks

My yaris reads 70?but GPS reads 64-65
