Cured the gearstick 'buzz' (under load in 5th/6th) with a dribble of super glue to secure the weights on the bottom of the gearstick - 10 minute fix, no more rattling, yay!!

Can I have some info on that please? Have the same issue. Put your foot down @ 40 in 5th and it buzzes, end up keeping my hand on the stick all the time to stop it... Cheers, David

David, this is an easy fix - exactly same symptoms as yours, buzzing under load in high gears and very annoying! Simply pull down the gearstick gaiter (not up) till right off the gearstick base, then unclip the gearstick (two black tabs hold it in place over white plastic 'knobs'. Lift out gearstick, you'll see two metal weights at the base which will be very slightly loose in their mountings - this is what causes the rattle. I just put a smear of superglue to 'fix' the metal to the plastic housing at either side. Replace stick and gaiter, job done. Just road tested mine this afternoon for an hour up the M6 and back - completely cured the buzz Very Happy 1959 Series 2 Ragtop

We filled it to the gunnels with load of cycling stuff and then off to the local cycle jumble sale. Made over Ł320 for charity Thumbs Up

Once home (and after an absolutely smashing bacon and egg sandwich) decided to replace the rocker cover gasket that had been weeping for while and coating everything below. Amazing how far a tiny bit of oil goes...

Also made sure the VGT turbo actuator was nicely free after feeling that it had been taking a bit of time to spool up recently. Seemed to do the trick on a quick test run.

Then washed it. And polished it. And then went round with the ACF-50. Looking great and doesn't look like it's 10 years old with over 244,000 miles under its wheels.

I'm absolutely bushed and nursing a nice Old Speckled Hen to recover. Dave

popped over to ZenOverland to collect a Rigid Industries Light bar Thumbs Up - fitted it this afternoon

also started to test a new 52mm dual battery volt meter, been waiting for a while for it to arrive. this will show the voltages of both batteries at the same time and has an optional night illumination setting.

I bought my rigid light bar from them guys a few years ago. Great service

Spent today fitting a brand new Adwest steering box as the old one was leaking and had slack in it (with no more adjustment to take it up). Brand new PAS pipes while I was at it too. Also converted to a Disco drop arm and a Gwyn Lewis sumo bar drag link. Busy day but lovely in the sun!

Even had the first BBQ of 2014!

Did an oil change on snotty, greased the UJ's and Props and also replaced an wheel bearing as old one was knackered with an half an inch play in the hub! No more grinding feel on the brake pedal now! Long overdue but upgraded security with a decent tracker fit. National company let me down initially using weather as an excuse and I was going to contact the manufactrurers to see if they would let me fit myself. Came good in the end with a late afternoon phonecall stating they'd be there in 5 minutes.

Ran the SVX thru the car wash, thereafter at home vacuumed and towel dried it, let it further dry out with all doors and bonnet open, put tire gloss, WD-40 into the towing sockets, etc.
And then the Mrs. called me for lunch.... with the SVX in the background... Thumbs Up

Good conclusion would be to install an app with a gps speedo on your mobile device, was very helpful when travelling in the UK

UK doesn't need to use fingers & toes to count, so multiples by 10 etc not so needed as for you "metric people" Rolling with laughter Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. I'm pretty sure miles came before kilometres... So it is you being awkward Whistle

Multiples of 3, 12 and 14 are clearly just easier than 10s Wink Cheers, David
