Went to log up a tree that fell into one of my fields. Got in there fine, loaded her up, got ten yards and got her bogged Followed by a half mile trudge to get the JCB.

Drove back down from the Lakes. 2 and a bit hours, half a tank of diesel and a great big smile on my face the whole way! 2 adult passengers and one labrador and a whole load of stuff. Never ceases to amaze me how much you can get in a 90! (One with side-facing rear seats anyway). 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green |

Despite the rain I went out and fitted my new driving lights. Really pleased witht eh quality feel of them and decent stainless steel fittings. I have been looking for some nice neat driving lights for a while, but everything was quite big and as I wasn't looking for mega power 'nuclear burst' brightness, just some useful extra light for driving country roads at night I thought these might just fit the bill. They sit on the Defender bumper just perfect with no overhang and look like they belong, not some after thought bolted on.
They are 25W CREE LED and seem eye damaging bright just in the daytime. I had been looking at them at the shows last year as Bolt On Bits sell them. £125 a pair at the shows or £140 delivered. I did a search for 25W CREE driving lights on ebay and a few sellers came up as well as Bolt On Bits. They seem to be selling for £80 a pair delivered by most sellers so I went for it. Spent most of the morning pulling people out of flooded roads......it amazing how few people say thank you.I even rescued a lady and took her to the nearest pub so she could phone her hubby.....she simply got out and shut the door...not even a thanks....its not my fault they choose to drive through 18 to 22" of water....
Still I will continue to help when i can.....I always believe in helping people out, even if there is little or no thanks. The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there's no risk of accident for someone who's dead. Albert Einstein |

Well, yesterday actually, we drove to Mersea Island, Essex, in the 110. High tide was at 14.08 and we crossed the causeway at 12.00. The water was about 3' off the road. Just enough time, we thought.
When we headed back at 13.30 we found the cars queueing by the water lapping at the water's/road edge! We made it in a fair old way to a raised bit of road by the start of the main causeway. We'd have made it the 300 metres across, but we'd have certainly had sea water and sea weed inside the 110. We turned back and went for a lovely pub lunch at the Victory Inn watching Euroboxes get drenched in the waterside carpark. No photos of the causeway i'm afraid, but here's a picture of what can happen if it goes wrong. Granted, the 110 would have made it compared to a Japanese people carrier: Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Are you local to Mersea Seb, I only live up the road from the victory pub. Always good fun watching the idiots drive through. The amount of comments I get of "are you not going through mate!" as im waiting in traffic. Shame they cant see their cars will rust away in a few years time and wonder why!
