There may well be bits missing from mine as it was my original bulkhead that I got back from the garage when I had it swapped for a galv bulkhead. It made sense to have new spindles fitted whilst it was being rebuilt.

Went to Ashcroft and back in my 90, and while I was there I went for a test drive in an auto Puma. BM52

Really good, very impressed. I much prefer auto for every day driving and I am now convinced I want to change my 90 to an auto. Just trying to work out dates etc now. Dave was very informative and helpful and I had a good run around Luton roads and onto the M1 as well.

That's right. Always have half an eye out for anything suitable for burning as I'm driving.

Not wanting to sound like a boring old fart, but you do know that that is illegal? Unless you have the landowner's permission it is technically theft, and taking the chainsaw potentially constitutes "going equipped". Unless you upset someone you are unlikely to get stopped though. |

I think there is something on statute about collecting fallen wood within a certain distance of the highway. May even be common law. Can't for the life of me find it at the moment... Hope you can make this out from the pants phone pic but as you can see the two wheelboxes can be replaced separately but I'd recommend doing the motor at the same time as it made a massive difference to mine. The long wire runs through tubes on the car (not in pic) that attach to the wheelboxes but these can be reused. Fit the wheelboxes and tubes first then just feed the motor wire thing in. Hi Blackwolf, in this case I was OK, it was my land and I gave myself permission ! But no I wouldn't wander willy nilly onto someone else's land, though I did pick some up (without chainsaw) from the side of the A419 near me. Pulled over in the 90 with a high-viz vest - looked very official ! |

Thanks Mk1Collector. I'm not sure if I am looking forward to this job or not. Looks like a dashboard demolish job. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

It is pretty much but if your ok with a screwdriver and have a good memory it's not too bad. I took the oppertunity of the dash being out to cable tie all the wires securely to stop rattles and to tape and insulate the heater pipes and insulate as much bulkhead as I could at the same time. As you probably know the heater is in the td5 is pretty poor so every bit helps and the pipes leading to the vents were hardly in the sockets so well worth duct taping in place!!
