I would say that that is an excellent illustration of the the benefits of replacing the original drive flange bolts with socket head caps to eliminate the risk of wheel damage from the hex head corners. |

Had my 110 picked up by my indie today to fit Gwyn Lewis stainless steering rods and disco drop arm fitted along with new steering damper. Just had a call to say that while they were removing steering gauard they damaged the radiator and it is now leaking so won’t get it back today however they will be fitting a new radiator at there cost so will have a new rad for nowt just a couple of days of having to use the 90 instead Andy

Heh, heh, you're well ahead of me. I hope to get my HD flanges fitted on Monday whilst swapping wheels. The receiver hitch, which I'm picking up tomorrow, will have to wait until I have more time and have relocated the towing electrics to the crossmember. LOL I did wonder what the odds were of the bolts having been torqued up to the manual setting and all sitting like that. |

Fitted the replacement bulb. I had pressure washed the underside of the 90 (farm hack, dogs, logs, shooting, cleaned once a year) the other weekend, so I poked my head around it today and removed half a hundred weight of mud clinging to the front inside of the rear wheel arches, especially around the fuel filler fitting. I'm now minded to take a wire brush to the rest of the chassis and apply a coat of something, just struggling for time to get it done. |

The odds are that the bolts are torqued to the age old specification of my right arm to what feels just under right, then onto the next flat... to make the wheels fit. The cap head screws didn't appear in time so I reused the hex's. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

To relocate it I used the standard as a template and marked the holes with masking tape, then drilled the cross member and inserted M5 rivnuts. the standard screws then fit right in. Why they didn't do it during manufacturer is anyones guess. mostly bolling down to money. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

So spent the weekend at Eastnor castle being a group lead marshal for the Majors Memorial Trial. I didn't spot any new defenders, but it was still nice to have two days of driving around Clenchers and Hospital woods on the LRE tracks, and on some tracks not used by them. Click image to enlarge There has been some grading work done in the past few months (mounds of soil pushed off the track sides). On the youtubes video's of the new defender where they did their initial impressions (e.g hammonds and car wow) the Wading track behind them was sealed off like it was having some work done on it. Not today, Saturday though,
Had my first ever experience of offroading, and my first offroading in the defender at LRO show Peterborough. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Not quite sure whether I prefer it muddy or clean .. Click image to enlarge |

Finished the bulk of the wiring for the diesel heater. Just need some ring terminals to go on the battery for the power feed.
Switch on the dash, feeds a switch wire to two relays each with their own fuse. One relay of 70amp for the main heater feed and one relay of 30amp for the control panel. 5amp and 25amp fuse in each power feed. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
