Had a really good day today, although very hot.
![]() I fitted in (temporarily) for this time of year, a 12v 2 speed twin fan for the dogs in the rear of my 90. It is perhaps surprisingly very good and has a near 360 degree adjustment. Not hard wired in, simply plugs in the lighter socket and in my case zip tied on the dog guard. Although comes with some adhesive foam pads as well. Pretty pleased with it for £15. ![]() Click image to enlarge Apologies for the phone pic, but you get the idea. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Got round to lashing some more love and care to my 110 yesterday after sporadic sessions over the past few weeks. The whole of the suspension has been re-bushed apart from the A frame joint that I did last year and even put all new bolts on all the fixing points! New brake pads in the rear, fronts were done last year. I changed the fuel filter housing a couple of weeks ago as the old one had broken away from the chassis mounts and the fuel filter needed changing but I was loathe to set to untill I was in a position to replace the housing. Yesterday I gave her an oil and filter change and replaced the Fuel Pressure Valve gubbins with one I rebuilt with new bits. The old one wasn't suspect but I had a repair kit, the boy needed to see what was involved so I changed it and the take off one will be stored on the shelf in case it's needed under the label of a serviceable spare. I also changed the injector seals and washers, again not really needed but this is a secondhand replacement engine so I now know the state of the ancillaries.
The bummer was that, yes it started up, with a little help and patience but kept cutting out over 2000 rpm so the road test was cut short last night. This morning it was out with the spanners again and the laptop which decided that it wasn't going to open up the Nanocom programme, the boy dug out his newer laptop and downloaded the nanocom software and yep, suspicions agreed with the Nanocoms indication that the crank sensor was at fault. When I put the replacement engine in 18 months ago we caught the wires to the CPS, did a quick repair but that seems to have let me down so today I redid the repair by digging further back into the engine loom that passes by the CPS at the back of the block and redid the wire joins to the plug. All back together again and the jobs a good 'un. Off for a road test and a couple more turns on the turbo actuating rod has upped the boost a little and the boy was impressed with the bit of tyre squeal that can be had at junctions ![]() |

This weeks heatwave is good occasion to see if the A/C properly functions. And to check if the little bung under the gearbox is not blocked. All is good, yesterday in the city in 39°C, air from vents was nicely ice cold and a steady stream of condensation water was spilling down onto the ground over the middle crossmember.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
