A little pic of the radiator water tank
Its dried out now...
Still plenty of water in the tank..
Its was all wet around the underneath of the bonnet just above it and all over the pipes near it

Its now nearly a cold engine....and there is still a slight sizziling sound....tried to get a recording but can only pick it up with your ear nxt to the engine...recording doesnt come out!?

Driving down the 303, I was following a HGV that rode his brakes down one of the steepest hills on the route, no retarder and no gear changes just the brakes, if I didn’t know what cooked brakes smelt like I certainly would have for the 1-2mi until it cleared, makes you wonder how some people get taught to drive Confused 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I was tought the above, but just as well I have my own technique then.
Don't think I'd want to be driving the the brakes on extreme descents in an unloaded Defender much less a HGV or with trailers etc. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

I’m suppose its the difference between learning to drive in a vehicle that has propper brakes and learning to drive in an old school motor, I was always taught the importance of engine braking, gear choice for hills/corners as my brakes were only to stop me (not slowing down) or in an emergency. I can confess to using them more than that but I do enjoy seeing how far I can travel reading the traffic and thus not having to use my brakes. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Mash, driving without a rag and no door tops, you do sniff out every burning clutch, brakes and overheating motors, I've thought mine was burning up once at a set of lights before, luckily it was somebody else's heap.

Nice box in a box, John Thumbs Up

Cheers Steve. A lot less play in the gears compared to the old Defender one in the shed. Just need to get the TC fitted now and then sell on the current TC 1999 Defender TD5 110
