I forgot to close the engine sea-cock after yesterdays sail , so back down with the boy to actually drive more than 30 miles in one go Put another 105 on it making it 450 miles in total. Really appreciating the 6th gear and the torque plowing up and over the South Downs

Couldn't wait for his picnic when we arrived, so had it off the boat in the car park!

Hello mate I was going to finish it this year and delay putting the boat in but I was offered a choice mooring so it is boat this year and rebuild next year as both kids will be in school during the day so I can finally get on with things.... and work to get the dosh together to finish it! 7K so far another 5k should do it!
Have to say I'm really looking forward to finishing it, Ive had a long enough break from it now and any future work will be visible progress. I've done most of the dirty work and preparation stuff. brake and fuel lines to go on fuel tank galvanising body off to sprayers wiring loom interior fit out etc and a final once through Dunsfold to get it all set up properly and it will be done. Sounds soooo quick & easy |

No nothing to do with golden rivets It's a valve that closes off sea water from the outside for your heads, sink etc and in this case the engine which is cooled by sea water running around it If there is a leak your boat ends up on the bottom of course so always important to turn them off! If you remember

Went to my first of two exams today. 20 mile drive there and back pretty much all on back roads.
Its odd, I have more fun in the Defender on these sorts of roads than I did in my Fiesta. Granted it was only a 1.4 but fairly stuck to the road. Ah well, same again Thursday then off till September! Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |

Sounds familiar Ben! I only had one exam this morning - 40 miles each way, but not in the Defender sadly - it's gone in for paint. I've got 2 more, next Thursday and Friday and then off 'til end of September! Hoorah! Have to earn some money to pay for this education lark - and for Land Rover bits as well of course!

Expensive isn't it GM. As for Landy parts, find myself saying, 'I can do that, garages are unnecessary!' Funny, a little bit of knowledge can go a long way. If you don't mind me asking, what are you studying? Ben

It is, although it's going to get significantly worse for those deciding to go to uni in the future it seems! One of the reasons for me doing it now! I'm studying Environmental Management, which is basically Geography. You?

I'm studying Mechanical Engineering. Gotta say, it doesn't look good for uni goers in the future, however it is better up here in Scotland, with our tuition fees getting paid! I wouldn't have been able to afford it, as I finished school and went straight into uni. Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |

I left Sheffield Hallam uni 3 year ago and moved to Aberdeen within 2 days of finishing my BEng (Hons) in mechanical engineering. It was a great move, I take it your looking at the oil industry as well when you finish. Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |
