Not in the Defender as much as under it. Got strange chirpy noises on the last bit of a 482 mile day of driving on Tuesday and decided that it could only be the UJ's in the propshafts. All four replaced and props back on quick test drive and all is good. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

The other day did one of the scenic drives in the central Flinders Ranges in South Australia in my 2013 Defender. Being winter, the weather has been very average, even for the Flinders Ranges. Many tracks were closed due to heavy rainfall but the Moralana Scenic Drive was open along with some of the gorge loop drives for 4x4 only. I think it is one of the best regions in Australia, especially if you love camping and four wheel driving. Luckily, the tracks can dry out quite quickly when they get some sun and wind on them. The Defender is such a great touring vehicle.

Thanks Shaggydog. Unfortunately the weather really was poor while I was visiting and this weather was the best of the trip when I took the photographs. The rest of the time was very dull and other photographs I took of the area would not do it justice. I could easily spend months exploring and walking the area which extends around 400 kilometres in length with the lower ranges being less rugged than the northern more remote regions. While the four wheel driving is not extreme, there are lots of private stations (large pastoral holdings) which allow driving on their properties (pay to use) and allows great access to the region. Once thing about the winter driving though, no dust to leak in through every Defender orifice! Not too far from where the photographs were taken near Hawker in South Australia, there is a Land Rover enthusiast who owns the Wilmington Toy Museum who has over 50 Land Rovers from early series vehicles through to later models in various states of repair and he also has a collection of model Land Rovers which is the largest I have ever seen. I think every Land Rover enthusiast driving though the area drops in for look and a friendly chat. |

Mrs Greeni wanted her office re-modelled. It's a good job my 110 only has the 2 seats..... She went a bit 'mad'.

Yes, the "Wilmington Toy Museum" would be a MUST for any LandRover enthusiast who is in the area. Owner "Dave", his son Adrian, & Ranga (the cat!) will make you very welcome,....probably the best Landrover collection in Aussie. Pickles. |
