Removed tow bar assembly (every bolt cracked on with a windy gun by previous owner 6 years ago methinks), separated drop plate from assembly after 1 hour of 'twa**ing' it with a lump hammer, removed all old flaking powder coating, wire-brushed to within an inch of it's life, hammerited and reassembled. Drank a celebratory bottle of Black Sheep.

Installed one of the new natakengagaga rear door struts (thanks barbara) and whilst the door card was off, replaced the wheel carrier bolts for stainless. Strut is quality gear but blimey how tough was it to snap off those 5 mm rivets! Had to visit a mate with a more 'industrial' rivet gun.
Also retried (a leftover from changing the hinge bolts to stainless) to clip the driverside rear quarterlight panel (above the speakwr panel) back in place but just can't seem to get it perfect, even with new clips. Defender Puma 2.2 XS 90 Vespa GTS 300 Way too many racing bikes. |

Not as much as I had hoped, but that just means there is more still to do...
I GummiPleged my door rubbers... And now they look and feel like new once again... Although I will have to keep my fingers crossed that it assists with keeping water out and preventing the doors freezing solid... Rog... The GREEN One... Just hear back today: It's the fuel valouriser switch on the fuel pump. £50 part.
Symptoms were sudden loss of power, would turn over but not fire up. Like a broken fuel pump, but just a component. Fuel was going in but not out. Apparently the early Pumas (ours is one of the first MY07) are starting to see fuel pump wear/ failure. I'll post about this in the Maintenance & Mod section too. |
